Password Generator Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026
Password Generator (“the extension”) creates passwords in your browser and offers suggestions when you focus a password field. This policy describes the information the extension handles.
Summary
The extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your passwords, browsing history, or personal information with its developer. Password generation and suggestions run locally in your browser.
Information the extension handles
When you use the popup, the extension generates and displays a password. It stores your selected password length and character types in the browser’s local extension storage so those settings are available next time. It does not store generated passwords.
On webpages, the extension checks password fields when you focus them. It checks whether the field already has a value and may check a nearby text or email field to decide whether to show a suggestion. These values are used locally for that decision; the extension does not save or send them to the developer.
If you choose Use this password, the extension places the suggested password in the webpage’s password field. That webpage can then handle the password as it would one you typed yourself. If you choose to copy a password, it is placed on your device’s clipboard, which is controlled by your browser and operating system.
Information we collect and share
We do not receive or collect information from the extension. It does not use analytics, advertising trackers, or a developer-operated server, and it does not send data to third parties.
Permissions
The extension runs a content script on webpages so it can offer suggestions in password fields. Its manifest also declares clipboardWrite for copying passwords, plus activeTab and scripting. The current extension code does not use the activeTab or scripting APIs to collect or transmit data.
Your choices and data retention
You can stop using the extension by disabling or removing it in your browser. Removing the extension or clearing its browser storage deletes its locally saved popup settings. Generated passwords are not retained by the extension after use.
Children’s privacy
The extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone through the extension.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the extension’s behavior changes. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
