Threat Deflect assisted a small business owner after a fake Zoom meeting invitation resulted in the installation of multiple unauthorized remote management tools.
Guided the initial response by immediately disconnecting affected systems from the internet, securing critical accounts, and preventing further attacker access. Identified and removed multiple persistence mechanisms, including scheduled tasks that reinstalled remote access software, stopped and removed malicious services, and investigated additional startup, service, and persistence locations.
The incident response included credential protection, forensic triage, and development of a comprehensive remediation plan to restore system integrity.
